Cockatiels have a vocabulary of 12 To 25 words. Usually it is the males that talk and when teaching them to talk you want
them to say their first word before they whistle. They tend to talk more if they talk first, as whistling is natural.
Cockatiels are flock birds. They do well living with a family of people. They love attention and with a family they enjoy lots

vegetables. A Cuttle Bone in the cage is a must. This is where your Cockatiel will get its calcium that it needs. Always
make sure that your Cockatiel has fresh water daily.
Cockatiels like most fruits such as Grapes & Apples ( No Apple Seeds They are Poisonous To Birds). They like just about
any vegetable raw or cooked. Do Not give your Cockatiel Coffee, Chocolate, avocados, or any milk product.
When bringing your Cockatiel home from the breeder or pet store your bird will become stressed. He/She has been taken
to a new home and a new family around him/her. The stress could affect his/her eating habits. Be sure to inquire what the
breeder or pet store has been feeding the Cockatiel. You should purchase a weeks worth of food from the breeder or pet
store. Purchase What ever you decide that you are going to be feeding your Cockatiel and mix the two 75% Breeder or pet
store feed to 25% your choice of feed. Every day there after slowly increase your choice feed until The Breeder or pet store
feed is gone. This should allow your bird to adjust to the new home and your family with less stress and a happier bird.
