Characteristics: The Green Cheek Conure is one of the smallest Conures. Don't let their size fool you though, They have
just as much personality if not more than the big Parrots do. The Green Cheek Conure is A Great step up from the
Cockatiel to a Great attention.
The Green Cheek Conure is a very High Energy bird. They are not a very loud bird.
They are capable of having a very large vocabulary.
These birds don't seem to mind a noisy, busy household. They are a great family bird and do well around families and
children.
The Green Cheek Conure Does not have the feather dust that most birds have making this a good bird for those that have
allergies.
Their Life Span is 15 year To 30 years if fed a healthy diet and taken well care of.
Colors: Green Cheeks are Mainly Green. They Have a Grey / Black Color on the head. A Grey to Yellow Throat, An olive
green body and wings, They have a maroon Tail Tipped with navy blue.
Size: Green Cheek Conures are about 10 inches. ( A little smaller than the size of a Cockatiel).
Origin: South America
Recommended Housing Equipment: Med. size cage 20W x 20D x 30H with room for Toys. A swing, A Pedicure Perch ( a
textured perch that helps keep toenails and beak short and smooth.), A deep wide water dish for bathing in, and of course
a food dish and water dish.
If you are planning to take your bird with you when you go out and about. A flight suit for your bird would be
recommended. The flight suit has a diaper in it to keep your bird from messing on your nice clothes. You may add a leash
that Attach's to the flight suit and to you. This will prevent your bird from harming itself and from flying off.
A Cage Playmate: Green Cheek Conures love attention and love to cuddle. They do great as an only bird if you spend time
with them and give them lots of attention. If you like to have a talking bird but don't have lots of time for it, or it ends up that
you do not have the time you thought you would have, than a second Conure would be best. They will keep each other
happy and you will have twice the entertainment. You can house them both in the same cage as shown above.
Gender: Green Cheek Conures Need to be DNA sexed to find out if it is a male or a female. There is not a visual
comparison between the two.
Nutrition: Our Green Cheek Conures are fed a combination of Mazuri pellets, a variety of vitamin enriched seeds, fresh
fruits, and vegetables. A Cuttle Bone in the cage is a must. This is where your Conure will get its calcium that it needs.
Always make sure that your Conure has fresh water daily.
Fruits & Vegetables: Conures like Oranges, Grapes, Apples ( No Apple Seeds They are Poisonous To Birds). They like just
about any vegetable raw or cooked. Do Not give your Conure Coffee, Chocolate, avocados, or any milk product.
Stress: When bringing your Conure home from the breeder or pet store your bird will become stressed. He/She has been
taken to a new home and a new family. The stress could affect his/her eating habits. Be sure to inquire what the breeder or
pet store has
been feeding the Conure. You should purchase a weeks worth of food from the breeder or pet store. Purchase What ever
you decide that you are going to be feeding your Conure and mix the two 75% Breeder or pet store feed to 25% your
choice of feed. Every day there after slowly increase your choice feed until The Breeder or pet store feed is gone. This
should allow your bird to adjust to the new home and your family with less stress and a happier bird.
